Prestashop is a great open source, e-commerce platform, but every store needs different modules to suit company needs. When I built my first Prestashop store for my girlfriend, I felt awesome; it was easy to set up products, categories, and images. After a month or so, the store got its first order, and after some marketing and SEO, the orders escalated.
But when I analyzed the analytics, I found that we were missing out on many orders just because we did not have some features that modern web stores must have. I took a day of absence from my work and did a full analysis of what it was missing and where could I get modules that would help me with my problem.
I used free and paid modules; some of them are so essential that I am going to present them in this article.
FREE Module CMS on Homepage
This was one of the first modules I used on my girlfriend’s store. She had some specific products, and we needed content to be displayed on the homepage to let our customers know what kind of products we sell and story behind them.
This module is free and easy to setup. All you need to do is to install it through Prestashop Back Office and select which CMS page you would like to display on home page.Download & Demo
Prestashop Blog Module
Creating rich content is a must for good ranking positions, but it is very hard to create for a specific category or product page. In this case, writing a blog is a great and easy way to get good, long, and shareable content. After I installed Blog Module on my girlfriend’s store and wrote some rich content, the rankings when up and we received a bunch of social shares, ergo more targeted visitors, which has converted very well.
For $30, you get Blog Module, which is easy to manage, has many features like posts related to products, and multi-language support.Buy & Demo
FREE Module Facebook Comments
Facebook is part of everyone’s lifestyle. I bet you cannot count more than five friends that don’t use Facebook.
Getting comments and reviews on products is hard and the only thing besides offering some kind of review discount is to use Facebook comments on the products page. This module does it for you. Your store visitors can easily add comments as they are already logged in their Facebook accounts.Download & Demo
Prestashop SEO Manager
If you do not want to pay for an SEO agency or you do not like to pay for advertising, you need to do SEO by yourself. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be a pain in the ass in Prestashop because there are many fields that you can only manage when editing products, which can be very time-consuming. After looking for a module that would save me time, I stumbled upon this module called Prestashop SEO Manager, which was just what I needed. It was also cheap compared to other modules available on the Prestashop Official Market.
With this module, you can easily generate meta titles and meta description fields for your products with just one click. It has a user-friendly interface, and when used properly, it can increase rankings.Buy & Demo
PrestaShop Popup Notification + Social Connect
This module is on my “Must Have” list of Prestashop modules. Getting email addresses is, in my opinion, the most important thing besides getting orders from your web store. If you get targeted visitors to leave you their private email address, you have a strong marketing tool that can bring more sales with good email campaigns. What this module does is show a nice popup notification on the home page, products page, or category page. It has many features like social connect, different types of content, a delay system, and an auto coupon after visitors leaves you their email addresses.
With this module, my girlfriend’s store has collected more than 1000 emails and a number of orders, which converted into regular customers.Buy & Demo
